Things To Do In England

There are so many things to do in England, it can be difficult to know where to begin; where to go, what to do, what to see, but that’s where we here at Things to do in England can help.

England consists of several regions, North East, North West, Yorkshire and Humberside, East Midlands, West Midlands, South East, South West, East Anglia and London. Within each region there is so much to explore and do as England is steep edin rich history, culture and legend. For the casual day tripper, England also has some fantastic shops!

In the North West, you will find many things to do in England in the vibrant city of Manchester, and the county of Cumbria which houses the famous Lake District, roamed by poets such as William Wordsworth and authors such as Beatrix Potter. Although beautiful and breathtaking, be sure to pack for all weathers, especially the wet kind when visiting this beautiful area.

In the North East you will find the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne, much favoured by the team here at Things to do in England. A city full of life and personality you will have a many fantastic nights out and you will be able to fill your days with culture from its museums, art galleries and theatres.

Further north you will enter into Northumberland, a beautiful county with a magnificent coast line. Don’t forget to visit the most Northerly town in England if you travel here; Berwick Upon Tweed. Encased by Elizabethan Walls the town is picturesque with a deep magnificent history.

York is a beautiful city within in the county of North Yorkshire. Founded by the Vikings, you can still see the remnants of their city today in the Jorvik museum. York is most famous for its streets called The Shambles. Very small old houses dating back to medieval times line the streets which are now used a boutique shops and tea rooms.

Visiting the East Midlands will take you to Leicester, Derby and Nottingham. The beautiful countryside in the East Midlands is a beautiful setting for a picnic and where better than in Sherwood Forest to relive the tales of Robin Hood and his Merry Men. You may even get to practise your bow and arrow skills against the Sheriff of Nottingham!

When you are looking for things to do in England the West Midlands should not be forgotten about. Birmingham is the second largest city on England and home to the famous Birmingham Bull Ring. If you’re a shopaholic then look no further, Birmingham is the city for you.

East Anglia is home to the Norfolk broads, and beautiful seaside towns such as Great Yarmouth that bring back memories of times gone by. In summer this region is busy one as tourists flock to the seaside, and if you are visiting the more southern area of the region then you are not far from the Capital itself.

The South West comprises some of the most scenic beaches one could hope to see throughout Cornwall and Devon, and the South East houses the popular pebble beaches on the south coast such as the fabulous Brighton. Brighton is a convenient distance from London and is a very popular getaway for city dwellers.
